We are a very lucky festival, why? Because the amazing illustrator Chris Haugton has written a post in his web site about IlustraTour. We would like to share it with you, so here it is:

“To any illustrators, especially professional illustrators and designers who are looking to get more into picture book illustration or illustration in general I would highly highly recommend taking a week out to visit Spain for Ilustratour a week of workshop and talks. I was asked to give a workshop and talk at Ilustratour last year and I was blown away by the whole experience. I would have got a lot from visiting these workshops as a participant. It is a 5 day course and then a weekend of talks. Last year Oliver Jeffers, Kitty Crowther, Nosy Crow, Marc Boutavant, Axel Scheffler and David Weisner among others gave talks and workshops amongst others in the beautiful town of Valladolid. A really lovely week of meeting new people and seeing inspiring new work. Follow them online and book a space for next year’s Ilustratour in July 2014.”
Chris Haughton, apart from being an amazing illustrator, is also a founder member of NODE: a non-profit social business that aims to connect the world’s best designers and illustrators with traditional Nepalese carpet makers to create beautiful handmade rugs.
Awesome, right? That is not all, though.
These rugs are produced by Kumbeshwar Technical School, a member of Fair Trade Nepal that not only provides education and support to its employees, but also supports a school of 260 children and an orphanage of 19.
We immediately fall in love with this project when we knew about it!! And our first thought was: ‘We have to do something together!!’
Some exciting news about NODE and IlustraTour love affair… coming soon…
